Re: [pct-l] CDT - PCT - AT (very long)

Thanks, Ginny and Jim, for a great description of the differences among long
trails. Many of your comments about CDT '99 mirror my experiences on PCT
'77: incomplete route, poor trail marking, poorly constructed trail,
occasional bushwhacking, bad (to the point of amusing) guidebooks and maps,
and rare encounters with other hikers. Perhaps in another quarter
century--if folks are still interested in long-distance hiking--the CDT will
be like the current PCT in those respects.

That thought--and your terrific description of the scenic advantages that'll
never be equaled--make me want to see the CDT sooner rather than later!

Cheers,
Carl
