On a hike near Thousand Island Lake last year, we saw two different groups
of hikers--all with vintage Kelty packs. The original Kelty packs were lean
(<3 lbs) and comfortable--and they last forever. We, of course, were using
the experimental flexible frame packs that Dick Kelty made for our '77
thruhike. (A couple of years ago, Kelty Pack borrowed them and offered us
any new pack in exchange. No thanks, we said!)
