i just built my new cat can stove and was wondering what the best kind of
fuel was for it.
The best fuel is denatured alcohol, sold by the quart or gallon at most
hardware stores in the paint section (used as a cleanup solvent).
Rubbing alcohol doesn't work so good because it's got a lot of water in it,
but in a pinch, you can use it. Another alternative is alcohol-based
gasoline dryer (HEET, etc.), though I'm leary of that myself because I don't
know what other sorts of chemicals might be in it. I suppose Everclear
would work in an emergency, but I've never tried it.
