<Hot spices probably wouldn't work.  It was confirmed by biologists in
British Columbia that grizzly bears love the pepper in hot pepper spray
cans.  They tried it out due to one dumbkopf who used his pepper spray
device around his campsite, as if he were "marking his territory", and
was later attacked by a grizzly who was attracted to the area.>
