[pct-l] boots

I've been perusing various hiking journals on the GORP and PCTA websites. One
common theme that stands out is trashed and butchered feet. So tht begs the
question: is all this suffering really necessary or a result of people taking
the ultralight method too far. I just have to wonder if all these hikers had
stuck to the tried and true method of wearing good fitting leather hiking
(not mountaineering - they suck too) boots, would they be suffering now? One
things certain. The shoes they are wearing don't work. Since I hiked the
trail with minimal foot problems, I feel qualified to offer some advice to
those contemplating a future PCT trip. Consider your footwear wisely. Learn
something from those who have suffered. Don't follow herd instinct or you'll
be butchered with the herd. Strongly consider a brand name leather hiking (
repeat, not mountaineering) boot that offers customized ( read expensive)
fitting. So Jardinians, go ahead and flame me. I don't much care cause I've
got happy feet! ( for an atypical Jardinian journey check out Ron Moaks
journal on the PCTA website. And no, Ron, we don't all need pain killers)
