[pct-l] The Fantastic Alcohol Stove Contest

After having the "Homemade Gear Contest" end in a dead-heat between eleven
entrants, I was looking for a clear winner in the 'Fantastic Alcohol Stove
Contest". No such luck! Essentially finishing tied for the lead were:
1-Ultra Light Tuna Can (Roy Robin) weight= 1.2 ox boil time [1 cup]=2:24
2-Little Cheapo [Bob "at the trailhead" Reiss] weight=1.6 oz boil time=3:01
3-Beer Can Stove [Scott] weight= .8 oz boil time = 3:10
Also in consideration was:
4-Fallingwater [Roan Moak] weight= 1.7 time=6:27
This stove deserved special consideration because it was a one piece stove.
All the others were multiple piece stoves that required time [and a clear
brain] to setup.

We also had entrants from Lee "Average Joe Stove", Monte "Turbo 2000" and
SKID "Simple Stove", all of which did a fine job, if a bit slower.

WE chose the Beer Can stove because it appeared more efficient than the
other finalists, producing a clear blue flame in the center of the pot.
"Tuna Can", the boil time leader, was downgraded because it proved almost
impossible to extinguish. The Little Cheapo, a fine stove, was rated
inferior to the Beer Can stove because it was determined, unscientifically,
that Little Cheapo would use more fuel [weight] than the Beer Can. See
