RE: [pct-l] AT lover's live in a dream!!!

Down, Down, Monte!

The reason that many AT thru-hikers packs are heavier than their PCT
counterparts is simple. Experience! The more experience the lighter the
pack. You're a case in point, this summer your pack will be lighter than the
one you hiked with years ago.

If you look at any novice hiker PCT or AT and you'll find a heavy pack. Some
endure and persist. Other shed the weight or quit. Just ask Brian or his dad
about their first days on the PCT with heavy packs. Compare that to today
with a few thousand miles under their belt.

Now you may not enjoy a hike along the AT. That's fine. However, you're in
no position to dismiss it as a cake walk. I dare say you'd quickly find many
parts of that trail to be a pretty humbling experience. What it lacks in
deserts and altitude is more than compensated for in miles of kick-ass
trail. So take you're 60 pound packs for a stroll, then tell us what a cake
walk it is.

I'd image you'd wind up with a much greater respect for people like Gamma
Gatewood or Bill Irwin. Regardless of your feelings, they have this hikers
Respect!
