I would say that it's about 70% down and 30% synthetic on the PCT and 
perhaps the reverse of that on the AT. In PCT environs, outside of the far 
north, the frequency of rain and humidity is low enough that you have more 
chance to effectively air out a damp down bag. This is not as much the case 
in eastern hiking. Having said that, a down bag on the AT is still very 
feasible.
