Can't speak to that section myself, but have friends who did it a few years 
ago when they were in pretty good hiking condition. They found it exceedingly 
tough -- some of the roughest verticals on the whole AT, I'm told. The 
youngsters might just want to move a little further north and get past 
Tennessee -- just a thought.
