A karst is a limestone area characterized by lots of depressions
(sinkholes), ravines etc., where the rock washes out. Do you know the area
off the Suwannee River, near the dark tarn, where the spring that runs into
it is exposed in several spots. You can cross back and forth on land
bridges. That's an excellent example of karst.
