Dear Member,

American Hiking Society and the Camp Tuscazoar Foundation need your help!

We have a Volunteer Vacation project scheduled for October 19-25 at Camp
Tuscazoar in Zoarville, Ohio. The project is in danger of being cancelled
due to lack of volunteers. To fill this crew and to encourage more people
to get involved, we have WAIVED the registration fee for this particular
project.

Project: The camp is in need of all kinds of maintenance work, such as
trail construction and clearing, gate installation, tree clearing and
firewood cutting. The camp also administers the Zoar Valley Trail and
volunteers will work on projects along portions of that trail situated near
the camp. Cabins are available, along with tent sites. Area: Camp
Tuscazoar is a former Boy Scout camp situated in the historic and scenic
Tuscarawas River valley in Tuscarawas County near Zoarville, Ohio. With
over 500 acres of forested hills and valleys along the banks of the
Tuscarawas River, rich with Indian lore and local history, Camp Tuscazoar
is Ohio's most historic camp. There are two reputed Native American
lookouts, an old iron mine, a tunnel and other natural and man-made
features. The terrain is very hilly, but not difficult. There are excellent
opportunities for recreational climbing and mountain bike riding. The camp
is also situated near Ohio's only Revolutionary War fort, Ft. Laurens, and
the site of the first Moravian mission to the Ohio natives, Schoenbrunn.
Basecamp: Cabin. Travel: Airport pickup provided at Akron-Canton Airport.
Food: Food is provided.

For more information on Camp Tuscazoar please visit their web site at
http://www.tuscazoar.org/about_us.htm.

We have several other fall Volunteer Vacation opportunities available at
Cumberland Gap National Historical Park in Kentucky from October 5-11 and
with the Florida Trail Association from November 16-22. Details on these
projects can be viewed at
