[ft-l] Notice to Hikers: St. Marks Trail Reroute

Notice to Hikers: St. Marks Trail Reroute

The eastern trail entrance to the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge near
the Aucilla River has been rerouted. From the US 98 Aucilla River Bridge,
follow the blazes along US 98 northwest for approximately 1.25 miles to the
access road of the Aucilla Wildlife Management Small Game Area (Florida
Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission). Follow the blazes along the
access road southwest for .1 mile crossing under a power line. 50 yards
south of the powerline, the blazed trail leaves the improved access road
and turns south/southeast following an old road for approximately .8 mile.
The trail turns east at the boundary line of the Refuge and Wildlife
Management Area, and follows the property line for approximately .25 mile
crossing a slough before joining the FNST in the Refuge on the old tram.
The FNST turns southwest on the tram and continues through the Refuge. The
private property owner of the tram on which the trail formerly followed has
fenced and posted it closed to all hikers at the refuge boundary and US 98.
Please respect this closure and use the newly blazed trail described above.
