To the maintainers who don't see the value in grooming trails for outsiders,
I offer this quote from Appalachian Trail maintainer Paul P. Johnson, Jr. who
maintains 4.6 miles of the Maine AT. When asked what the motivation of AT
maintainers was, he offered:
"We do it because we take pride in being part of something so much bigger
than we are."
