[CDT-L] Anaconda Cutoff/June Weather

ANACONDA CUTOFF:

Walked it last summer while section hiking two separate trips covering
Lincoln to Bannock Pass. About 25-30 miles from Champion Pass to Anaconda,
then another 25 or so to Goat Flat (watch for rancher Hans Lampert on his
motorcyle--he'll want to know all your hike details!). Not sure about the
statement of "more climbing" on this route vs. 274 -- at most this could
mean a couple hundred feet extra climbing just before Goat Flat. Nothing
of substance.

From Anaconda to Storm Lake Road, you can walk back roads, not all of which
show on the maps, parallel to and just south of the main highway. In
Anaconda, be sure to stop in and say hi to Amy, the Chamber of Commerce
director (at old RR station in center of town).

EARLIER QUESTION ABOUT JUNE WEATHER BETWEEN CHAMPION PASS AND ROGERS PASS:
Last week of June rained every day. Deep rotten snow around Leadville
ghost town.
