Re: [CDT-L] Scapegoat wilderness and Anaconda cutoff

>There is supposed to be new trail near the Scapegoat Wilderness border
in northern Montana that follows the Divide, skipping the roadwalk down
to Alice Creek. For those who have done it recently, do you know how
many miles the relocation cuts off? Can you usually count on the water
at the Valley of the Moon?

If I remember correcty, it' only a few miles, ie, new heads right for
Lewis & Clark Pass, instead of down to creek and back up.

I assume you mean Goat Flats in the Anaconda W. If you go west out of
Anaconda, you will get there via Storm Pass. Its about the same distance
as down highway 274, but a lot more elevation gain. I went down 274 to
the ranch, picked up trail there. Don't remember exact miles between C
Pass and GP , but you go thru Warm Springs, good goodie stop, just be
wary of the loonies from the state mental hospital there.
