[CDT-L] Trail south of Grants

Reading Bryan Schuman's account of his route through New Mexico  - he
suggests - as does Jim Wolf - following the Zuni Canyon Road south of
Grants to Bonita Canyon Road to Rte 53 to the Zuni Acoma Trail. However
neither says anything about water availability. So, to you in New Mexico
(Tom B.??) is there water along that route?  Working windmills or stock
dams?  The "official route" seems unnecessarily roundabout and with a
lot of highway walking, though it does incorporate both the Chain of
Craters and Zuni Acoma Trail - and both sound interesting. But I think
the Zuni Canyon route sounds better than walking highways on both sides
of the Malpais.
