Didn't use on either trail, but did use on thru hike of the FT. I carry a
few self lighting charcoal. Light em with solid or paste firestarter. Cut
fuzz sticks to supplement coals.
Didn't have any problem, and FL gets a lot of rain! Didn't carry a backup
stove, but if needed would make up an alcohol one, use the rubbing type,
that way have fuel and for firstaid.
