I also prefer free-standing tents. Hiked the Colorado Trail
two summers ago with my daughter and we used our NF Tadpole.
It was great for us, both under 5'5"; we could even get all
our gear inside! (which was important because it rained a
lot).

Anyway, you might check out Mountain Hardwear's "Thruhiker"
(that's the name of the tent -- I've looked at it as a
potential replacement for our Tadpole (which is getting
pretty old) -- it looks fairly similar. NF just recently
discontinued their "Starlight" (or "Star-something") which
seemed to be a newer model of the Tadpole.
