It all depends upon the weather and your hiking style. Most thru-hikers are 
successful as southbounders and a late June start from Glacier is not 
unrealistic. Though keep in mind you'll hit the Divide Basin when it's hot 
and more than likely if you intend to thru-hike you'll be racing winter most 
of the way down. Not exactly a comforting way to hike, but if you accept 
that as reality of the trail - then you can adapt and follow alternative 
routes if neccessary.

There's more than one way to hike the CDT and it's impossible to see it all 
in 5-6 months. Good luck.
