Re: [at-l] non hiking post/ the real meaning of Christmas

I can hear Mom now. (Actually, with my LonGuyland mother, *everybody* could hear her.)

"Alright! OK!
You're all having fun *now*! But, sooner or later, somebody's gonna end up crying!"

We'd all key in on where she was going, and by the time she'd hit "Sooner or later...", we'd all join in and sing along. "Somebody's gonna end up CRYING!" BOY would that get her going! STEAM would issue from her ears! Her lower lip would puff WAY out, she'd glare these dark eyes at us, sweeping her head back and forth, and then she'd turn on her heel and stalk away, muttering "Alright! OK! Alright! OK!" into the distance. What a hoot.
(Then we'd all return to whatever we were doing, laughing or teasing and having a ball, until somebody ended up crying. Amazing how Mom always knew that would happen.)

I've noticed that some of our "meanness" on this list sort of creeps up on us
unexpectedly. At a certain point down the road, we suddenly notice that we're careening out of control at a speed well over the limit and the momentum just keeps building. Someone's gonna get hurt.
