[at-l] Xmas on the AT

Howdy everyone:

I'm planning to hike some of the AT from about Dec 26 thru Jan 1, and I was
wondering if anybody else would be doing the same? I've never even seen the AT
(I live in Boca Raton, FL), nor am I the least bit experienced as a hiker.
However I am sufficiently sick of my cubicle to just drive up to GA and see
what's there. I imagine I'll stay over in a hotel the first day, since it's
about a day's drive from here to there, and it gets dark early (unless there's
a campground right at Springer Mountain).

Because it'll probably be cold, and I'm a hiking newbie, I only plan to spend
a few days hiking, depending on the weather. Should I expect it to be crowded
this time of year?
