The PATC indicated that their portion of the trail was not in need of work
and that I should contact the Mountain Club of Maryland.  My email to the
MCM had a "return receipt" flag on it, and I received the return receipt
indicating that my email had been delivered and opened.  There has been no
reponse from the MCM.  I am not going to try and force our goodwill on
people, so I'm leaving this alone, and will try again next year if asked to
do so.  I just wanted you all to know that an effort had been made...

Just out of curiosity, why did they decline our help?  And why on earth
have the folks from MCM failed to respond (I know you probably don't know
the answer to the latter ... I'm just venting).  Nothing irks me more than
when volunteer organizations are so poorly managed that they turn away
willing and able volunteers.  (Note, I'm not saying that these two orgs are
"poorly managed", just that if they are and that's why we've been turned
away/ignored, I'm Irked).  What gives, anyway?
