"The HOSTEL, known as "The Place" is owned and operated by the Damascus
United Methodist Church. "The Place" is now in its twenty-fourth
consecutive year serving hikers and bikers on the Appalachian Trail, The
National Transcontinental Bike Trail, and the Virginia Creeper Trail. It is
estimated that at least thirty to forty thousand people from all over the
United States and many foreign countries have spent one or more nights
there, and for the past three or four years, more than two thousand have
registered each year."

Well "The Place" is in need of our assistance now.  The church needs
$20,000.00 to refurbish "The Place".  A donation of $5 from each list
member will add up to a tidy donation.  Since where all backpackers I
believe this to be a worthwhile cause to support?  

The Ruck is sponsoring a raffle to raise monies for "The Place".  
Each raffle ticket is $5, ALL monies go to "The Place", and so far the
below listed items are the prizes.
