[at-l] Hiking North on the AT from Hot Springs NC

Has anybody been hiking on the AT , heading south from Devil Fork Gap (NC
212) thru Allen Gap and onto Hot Springs NC? We are heading out Wed 11/23
for a 3 day backpack.   Am wondering what trail conditions are like in terms
of water at springs (other than the shelters) & creek crossings. There is
supposed to be a spring 12.3 mi south of Devil Fork Gap--anybody know if
there water there and if theres anywhere to camp nearby?  Want to do 10-12
mi /day, first shelter is only 8.6 and would like to do more than that. If
anybody knows trail real well would like to talk with you before we head up
in 2 days.  Please respond to lindajagger@yahoo.com as I do not too often
read this site. Also want to know about water and alternative places to camp
through out that section.

Also may hike Sams Gap (US 23) to Devil Fork Gap (NC 212) Sunday 11/28  if
we have time and energy. Anybody in that area want to join us or give us a
shuttle?
