Hi Kristin,

It's up to you about the approach trail.  If you wanted to do it, you could 
look into the hostel in Atlanta or camping at Amicalola before you start.  
If not, then it's not an issue.

It may be a bit early to line up a ride.  There are many people who will 
shuttle you up to Amicalola.  You might also want to keep an eye out for 
people leaving the same day as you.  Perhaps you'll find someone to share 
the cost of the shuttle.

In any case, when the time gets closer (a couple of weeks should be enough), 
ask the list about shuttlers.  You'll probably get a bunch of 
recommendations and perhaps hear from some shuttlers themselves.  Then talk 
with some to see if your schedule fits theirs.
