RE: [at-l] Hike the Approach Trail! was New to list- a few sugges tions

I've always considered the approach trail as part of the AT. Since when I
hiked it in '77, there was no other way to get to Springer except the
approach trail. The current FS 42 didn't exist. Actually there were very few
roads in Georgia. It was a pretty wild area. There were actually places
where the trail passed near moonshine stills.

Anyway when we got to Springer (Southbound) and only hiked down to
Nimberwill gap (the only road crossing on the approach trail) I felt
cheated. So 20 years later, we made sure we hiked the approach trail. It was
also a little protest of all the roads the FS has built in the area.
