Re[2]: [at-l] Trail Food Tests---
I think it's entirely staff-dependent. A couple of years ago, as I was
starting to return to the backpacking fold, I hit all the local
Galyans (4 of 'em?) and found their backpacking/camping areas staffed
by arogent SOBs (including 2000 milers, who thought they were Gods).
Bit by bit, (and interestingly enough, as my patience with such
equip-o-dolts went down), their overall attitude brightened
considerably. I think each is now staffed by people who are friendly
and informed. I'm even toying with part-timing employment there during
the holidays, for giggles.

Hmmm...Wish I could say the same for Galyan's Kansas City. The service
in the backpacking department is always weird for me.
What do you think? Is it reasonable to expect an outfitter to have a
scale to check gear weight? Does your outfitter have one?
Might be time for a field trip to Indy or Columbus or ___________
