For those of us who still have external frames, a good temporary binder
for the broken joints that occasionally occur are the large cable ties
that can be bought at electrical contracting supply stores. If you can't
find the ones that are long enough to wrap completely around the width
of the frame, two ties can be piggybacked to make a very strong binder.
And they can be stored in the frame.
