Well let's see. I'd lost 35 pounds by Damascus, so that would make the first
part of my trip 0.077 pounds per mile. I'd lost a total of 50 pounds by Harpers
Ferry, so that would make that section only worth 0.027 pounds per mile. By
Andover Maine, I'd actually dropped 70 total pounds, so the section from Harpers
Ferry to Andover was only worth 0.022 pounds per mile. I gained 10 between
Andover and Katahdin, so that must be the easiest section of the trail to hike :).

Other than a killer town appetite after Harpers Ferry, my diet did not change
appreciably till Maine. I was eating 3000 calories a day till around Rangeley,
then I added another 500-1000 a day in "empty" calories - candy bars and such.
