I have a 3/4 thermarest ultra light.  I also cut up an inexpensive pad to 
keep on the outside of my backpack for using during the day for breaks.  I 
then use it for an extender for my feet at night.  I found I sleep much 
better if my stuff sack pillow is on the thermarest for my head.
