But as you said you would burn it though.  As a last option, but you would
burn it.

If I considered something "sacred" I believe that one of the last things I
would do with it was to leave it in a shelter in the middle of the woods.
I believe I would treat it with a little more respect than to leave it
laying around like that.  And by the way if someone didnt use it for tinder
then it would become trash anyway  I read a post from a trail maintainer (I
read so many archives while I was trying to get subscribed to these lists
that I cannot remember which list it was from) that said all left behind
reading material, be it magazines, books or bibles, are all picked up as
trash when they make their rounds.

If you want to carry your bible with you, fine carry it, but dont leave it
if you really care about what becomes of it.  It may be sacred while its in
your hands but when you leave it on the trail it becomes litter.
