[at-l] RE: Gathering 2000

That is the reason why I choose it. I wanted people to ask so they could
learn about backpacking email lists. It seems to have worked.

You might have thought "Listers" up, Beau, but it's in common use on a
bunch of lists to which I subscribe (running (3-4), hiking (1!), and
Thoreau (1x)). Which means it gives a certain sense of familiarity when
reading "community topics" posts and seeing the word "lister" used in a
familiar way on a new list.
And besides which, what *else*would* we call ourselves? I think it's in
common use because it's what we are: spontaneous global generation.
     Coolness.

It *is* a term which often needs explanation, but *I* can't think of a
     better one.

The "Listers" is a dumb name and I thought it up. It also might be
confusing to change it. People at the Gathering do recognize it as part of
the Gathering. Another question is, do we even need a name? Though call on
whether to change or not.
