Re: [at-l] Music Music Music

     I haven't, and I don't, and have intensely enjoyed the off-trail encounters
with music (and other Hoo Mans) because of the privation.

On the other hand, one of my favorite memories of the AT is freezing in a
crowded Hawk Mtn shelter, with Dave and Jody Perham (of West Paris, Maine,
dontcha know) playing Tangled Up in Blue from their portable cassette deck
(predating Walkman units, and explaining the 80lb loads).

Like so much, for me, privation makes indulgence so much more special.

The music seemed to be kind of a new experience to some of the people. I'm
just curious what most people listen too on the trail? I've seen day
hikers with walkman's (walkmen, walkpeople?), but never really pictured a
backpacker carrying one. Do you?
Thanks,
Tom
