[at-l] Gathering 99

Another Gathering has come and gone. This years was just as amazing as all
the others I have gone to. Seeing all of my Lister family is one of my
yearly high points. At the Gathering this year we had "Purple" as the Earl
Shaffer look alike winner. Purple looks like Earl when he finished the AT
in 1948. The photos of each taken in similar pose atop Katadin are eery.
Attending his second Gathering this year was Ex-president Gerald Ford in a
Datto disguise. The ruse did not work because we all knew that the
sure-footed Datto could have never taken a fall like that. The Listers
email workshop was one of things you had to be there to really see what was
happened. I have presented many workshops over the years but this one took
the prize of most discombobulating. The presenters: John O'Mahoney, Sandy
Downs, Nina Baxley, Tom Sweeting and subbing for Kahley Hubitsky was Pat
Villenenue all did a wonderful job. I thank you all. TJ's taking care of
the take out orders was a great help and capped off the workshop. I am not
really sure where I lost it during the workshop. It was some where between
Datto exercising his right to fall, Give Me Chocolate's attempt to fall down
the aisle, or it could have been when Solar Bear started pirouetting in his
pink tutu. All the while this was happening one of the attendees, a list
virgin, kept asking over and over for assurance that, you can unsubscribe.
While reading some feedback responses the one that fit most for the workshop
is this. "The Listers are sure a lively bunch". The Listers also won the
noisiest campsite in the quiet area award. Winning this dubious honor with
one verbal request and two written complaints about noise. John O'Mahoney
"Johnny O" was elected to the ALDHA Board of Directors as secretary.
Approximately 95 Listers where at the Gathering. The workshops that I
attended were great. Dartmouth is a hard place to put on an event like the
Gathering. I think Karine Kelleher "Blister Sister" did a great job
organizing this years event. I hope you will all join me in sending her a
thank you message. (blistersister@juno.com) This is my last year
organizing the Listers event. Never fear though I have found a replace for
next year. Sandy Downs "Navigator" will be taking my place.

Take care,
