Well, I certainly didn't mean to get some flames going with that original
post! I was just passing along the info, finding it interesting that he'd be
in Hanover...then realized, hey, he lives there! And hey, maybe he's looking
for feedback from thru-hikers to turn into a magazine article for Outside
magazine! I know how it works, trying to live off of writing. You can't help
yourself but look for opportunities to write about EVERYTHING.
I listened to the book en route to The Gathering last year, thanks to
Skyline, and it was a hoot. But then, I've been buying Bryson books for years
because they're a hoot. If I were to fuss at him, it would be for leaving
Greece out of his "travels through Europe" book. :) I'm just curious, as
Sloetoe said, what the crowd reaction is gonna be...bash or slobber? I try to
be objective about this stuff.
Lovely piece on "Off the Trail," BTW, Rhyming Worm. From your book?
Uncle Milt-- inspired. Truly inspired. Think we could rustle Friar Tuck up
for Hanover?
Paddler-- does Baltimore Jack have a book underway? Tell us more!
Cheers, Navigator
(who can't help but read, and write, about the AT whenever possible)
