Jim---I've been lurking for a couple of days, but I was very moved by your tribute to Ed Garvey.  Thank you for it.  It put him in a little different light than I've seen him in from his books. I've just been reading his last book for the past month or so, bits here and there.  We'll miss him.  His was one of the first books about the trail that I read before my first hike.  Leslie
