Re: [at-l] alcohol stoves

I used a Trangia alcohol stove on my hike this year and I really liked it. The
stove is quiet, efficient, and heated water fast enough for me in every
condition I encountered. It's nowhere near as fast as a white gas stove, but it
doesn't flare up, scream at you, wake the neighbors, require pumping or any
other magical incantations to get it to work. No moving parts to break or wear out.

The Trangia was about 50% faster than any of the homemade stoves I saw on the
trail this year. I bought it from REI for around $20. Trangia has a website at
http://www.trangia.de that you may find interesting.
