There are several sites on the internet with instructions for making alcohol stoves. I don’t happen to have them at the touch of my finger (maybe Wild Bill does).

There are some new designs coming out soon. Last weekend I saw one that would boil a pint of water in 5 minutes on 2 tablespoons of fuel. For the last few nights I’ve been attempting to duplicate this stove with some enhancements. So far no luck.

There will be a write up in the ALDHA-West newsletter and the PCTA Communicator sometime in the future. Don’t know if there will be an online version.

The person who came up with the modified design just came off a 1500 mile hike of the PCT and used it with no problems. So I doubt you’d have problems in N.Y.

Help!!! can anyone give me info on making/buying an alcohol stove...I backpack with a small child and am afraid of carrying white gas...will alcohol work  good enough?  how fast does it boil...will it be okay on cold nights in upstate N.Y.?  I have a propane stove (peak 1 micro) and it does the job...however...the ecologist in me hates to keep throwing away propane tanks as they are not refillable....also I heard alcohol burns much cleaner.  any ideas?
