Actually there are two train stops, but only one actually on the trail. On
the Hudson Line there is a stop at Manitou just north of the Bear Mt Bridge.
Hawkins reply is correct for the real Appalachian Trail stop except that
their information about parking is wrong - well maybe right from their
prosective. There is no parking right at the station but across Rt 22 and up
a bit there is a large roadside pullout. You can also take the Harlem line
to Wingdale which has daily service and is something like a 3 mile walk to
the Trail on Hammersley Ridge.
