Ok....since you twisted my arm <g>.
Pittsia has had a brainstorm, at least I think it is....
There have been tag team hikes of the AT before, but what if instead of
a flag being passed along from hiker to hiker, it was the energy of
friendship and kinship with the trail?
What if....on a certain day, hundreds of hikers all assemble in groups of
6 or 8 at
trailheads along the AT....each about a six day hike from the next.
On saturday morning, we all shake hands and half of each group heads
northbound for three days while the other half of the groups heads
southbound.
Come Monday afternoon, the northbounders would meet with the
southbounders from the adjacent section to the north and the other half of
the group which had been hiking southbound would meet up with the
northbouders from the adjacent section to the south?
Darn..I am screwing this up....I should have waited for Pittsia to explain but
I just can't. Let me try it again.
If groups all assembled at evenly spaced trailheads and all hiked north for
three
days they would end up at the trailhead that another group had started from.
The whole trail would have been hiked by the group in three days!
Now if every other group hiked in the opposite direction, and everyone shook
hands at the beginning and at the end, there would be a kind of contact that
would extend from Ga>Me!!!! If you were hiking SB, on day one you would
shake hands with the group that will hike the section north of you from S>N
and on day three
you would shake hands with the group that hiked the section south of you NB.
It really isn't as complex as I'm making it seem. He's gonna kill me for
spilling the beans and screwing it up to boot!!!!
If anyone can figure out what I'm saying and explain it better than me....
have at it!!!!!
