Re: [at-l] More on Gulf Tract

There is also no great hurry. The owners have not offered to clear cut the
land or create ski slopes. They seem to be negotiating in good faith with
the government (i.e. - you and me) rather than holding the land and views
hostage. A few (well placed) real letters (from someone who sent a campaign
check) are actually likely to help. This purchase will be a few lines added
to more interesting legislation. Most of our Congressmen will be distracted
by far more difficult decisions regarding privacy, health care, FBI & ATF
policy scandals, and other more "sexy" issues. The connections are deep on
this issue. It will be purchased, although Congress may wait another year
or two, in order to fund some other more sexy project.
