The first 24 miles of New Jersey are shelterless. The first one is Brinks
Rd. Shelter. Camp Mohican is 10 miles in, but almost everyone stops in DWG
and 10 miles is too close. Maybe about 15 miles from DWG? Maybe a mile
in from that pump at...um...Flatsomething road?
I'm sure there are other places, but this is the spot I remember wanting a
shelter pretty badly. NJ prohibits camping "just anywhere", and let me tell
you the bear boxes at the shelters were used and very welcome.
