Some of the more upscale pasta meal in a bag brands have a lot less salt and other strange stuff in them, they use real spices instead.  Couscous is great...tastes like something, has good texture, cooks in no time.  I mix it with dried vegetables and meat...sorta Moroccan.  Using pasta, mash potato mix, or couscous, you can make your own "Liptons" with what you want in it.  Good white sauce mix can be made with flour, dried milk, and butter buds.  Not as hard as it seems, just takes some imagination.
