Actually, there is a bit.  Washington State has the 'Washington Water
Trails' that go from the bottom of Puget Sound way up into the San Juans
etc.  I'm not sure exactly just where it ends...  possibly goes into
Canada, between Vancouver Island and the mainland.  There is a web site
for the WA water trails association.  They've got a membership and there
are waterside reserved campsites that you can just paddle up to and pull
your boat out.  Campgrounds reserve some waterside spots for those in
the association and who are 'paddling' as a method of transportation.  I
seem to remember that the yearly fee is pretty cheap, around $20.
