[at-l] Pt 7 Pittsburgh is HIKING!!!

new england hike - day 7 - mizpah springs hut to lakes of the clouds hut

if there is a definitive day for perfect hiking, this was it.  in the land of
the some of the most severe weather found on earth, we had clear skies, 70*, and
wispy gusting winds...

our hike was short today, but utterly gorgeous.  mostly above tree line, we rock
hopped all day.  eye was stopped cold by the views more than once. my camera was
working overtime...

this is a very popular section of trail.  mount washington, which we will be
hiking over tomorrow, is the start/end point for much of the hiking in this
area.  we could see the thick black smoke from the cog railroad all day, and
hear the whistle from the engine.  eye was somewhat glad that this was not the
weekend, because there would be so many more people...

lakes of the clouds hut is above treeline, and is the largest of the huts,
holding 90 people.  we will also have the pleasure of many thru-hikers here
tonight.  some in bunkrooms, and some in the dungeon (basement)...

supper was veggie sausage soup, salad, excellent roast turkey, cooked carrots,
with double chocolate cake for desert...
