A koan is an insoluble puzzle or question given by the Roshi (Buddhist
Master) to a student to be pondered in meditation. The object is to try to
break out of conditioned patterns of rational thought and quiet the mind.
The most well know koan is "What is the sound of one hand clapping?" which
I altered to be trail related.
