Jeff, 

Two of my step-daughters have racks. One has the trunk mount and it
worked well this summer.  The other, who is an athletic trainer moving
to UI-C, has a roof mount because it's not just for bikes (she
cross-X's, etc. I'd put my money on the top mount.
