[at-l] Any northern GA kinfolk?

Howdy, all you returning from your weekend hikes!

Now that I'm in N. Central FL, am considering a run to northern GA now and 
again for hiking and my other favorite hobby--seeking out minerals and 
writing about the people and places involved in mineral collecting. Or in 
this case, gold. I understand both Dahlonega and Helen are ages-old gold 
mining towns. Anyone here have any grizzled ol' kinfolk up that way with 
stories to tell? <G> Besides, it helps to have a "working" excuse for me to 
drive up to Springer, LOL. Gotta take a look at this end of the trail, now 
that it's as close as I can get to the AT.
