 sein, Lebensmittelpakete fuer sich selbst an die verschiedenen
 Stationen zu schicken. Es scheint mir, dass der Trail sehr oft
 durch bewohntes Gebiet fuehrt (zumindest in West-Virginia),
 somit kann man auch Lebensmittel kaufen.
 Eine umfangreiche Buecherliste sollte vom ATC zu bekommen
 sein.

I come even from a shorter stay from Washington D. C., was also some 
days in the Apalachen move (daily routes) and was for two days in 
Harpers Ferry. There I looked at myself once so a Hiker station 
(probably the head office of the ATC). We were received, it gave good 
card material for purchase, many Wanderbuecher, t-shirts and caps, fresh 
pastry and a quantity of photos of lucky very cordially, but exhausted 
completely wanderern on the various summits. I believe to be found later 
easier also that each coming through wanderer with photo is documented, 
thus it can; -)
A second door led to a lounge, which I had not looked at myself however. 
I saw also a mail box, probably should it be possible to send food 
parcels for itself to the different stations. It seems to me that the 
Trail very often leads by inhabited area (at least in west Virginia), 
thus can one also food buy. An extensive book list should have to be
