Does anyone out there have the Solitude? If so, how do you like it? Do you
feel you could spend a long rainy evening in it, sitting upright, drinking
tea and reading? Or is it more of a big bivy type tent?
Thanks!
Sloetoe responds, somewhat sardonically....
Forget the "long rainy evening", Poke. If it's raining, it'll be a
very tired throughhiker, probably somewhat cold, who marches into
camp. After securing water, lofting the sleeping bag, and doing
something about dinner, you'll be cashed out asleep, dead to the
world, and grateful to be off your feet. And grateful, too, that you
spent the time and money getting the lightest shelter you could find.
(Which is to say, most of the time you are hiking, your "shelter" will
be on your back; only a comparatively small part of the throughhiker's
day is spent "awake" in their "shelter".
